Cherwell District Council’s popular activity sessions are back after an unprecedentedly successful year which saw their most popular summer to date and a Christmas start. The week will feature multiple skills, team games and crafts, all designed to promote the benefits of staying active and building confidence.
Councilor Phil Chapman, Senior Member for Recreation and Sport, said: “With the incredible reception the Hubs have received over the past year, it is clear that they are truly meaningful for children and their parents. They offer young people the chance to boost their mental and physical health, while having fun in a safe environment.
“We know parents also appreciate hubs as a childcare solution during the holidays and I encourage people to book early to avoid disappointment.”
Sessions will take place at sites in Banbury, Bicester and Kidlington.
With the support of the Holiday Activity Fund, the council has been able to provide free places and food to children eligible for free school meals and will continue this provision in 2022. Parents and guardians of eligible children should contact their school to find out more and make their reservations.
Food will be available for all children should parents wish to add it to their reservations.
All staff who run the sessions have passed the Disclosure and Barring Service checks. Older children are divided into two age groups, five to seven years old and over eight years old.
Full day sessions, from 8.45am to 5pm, cost £19.80 while the shorter session, from 8.45am to 3pm, costs £15.60.
