PRINCETON, Va. (WVVA) – Community Connections and Appalachian Medical Providers Partner to Implement Trusted Scientific Information on Health Topics Everyone Confronts. To achieve this goal, they use electronic newsletters. The bulletins will be called An Important Medical Message or ‘AIMM’. Community Connections leaders say the information is vital given that we are still in the pandemic.
“This partnership is really something new where we can start to get additional information when we see things that are hurting the constituency locally. Right now of course with COVID-19, education right now is about how spreading information about vaccinations, masks, etc., said Community Connections executive director Greg Puckett.
This information resource will publish new issues periodically over the course of a year. Each edition will feature different topics ranging from breast cancer awareness to the opioid crisis. AIMM will also solicit comments from the public. Dr Frederick Barker heads the editorial board of AIMM.
“Getting women to have annual mammograms when they’re forty or older. It’s a pretty simple thing to do. If we can do one thing, it will be really important the same way as if we can get people vaccinated. . ” said Barker.
Barker added that they planned to distribute the newsletter to local doctor’s offices who could then distribute it to patients interested in learning more about the topics. If you would like to receive the newsletter or have any questions about it, you can email [email protected] or phone 304-913-4956.
