Judge reports court activity for June | News, Sports, Jobs


IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County District Court Judge Julie A. LaCost released her Monthly Activity Report for the month of June.

New criminal cases filed included 15 felonies, two drunk driving felonies, 21 misdemeanors and 10 OWI/OUID misdemeanors.

New civil cases included 29 general civil cases, eight small claims cases and four landlord-tenant cases.

The new trafficking cases included 15 misdemeanors and 88 civil offences.

There were 15 non-traffic civil violations.

The criminal decisions included four pleas of guilty to felonies reduced to misdemeanors with one dismissed; eight preliminary felony reviews, all of which were dropped in circuit court; eight misdemeanors; and six offenses of exploitation while intoxicated.

Civil decisions included 12 general civil cases, seven small claims court cases and two landlord-tenant cases.

Traffic regulations included 13 misdemeanors and 64 civil offences.

There were eight non-traffic civil violations.

No jury trial took place.

Other activity included three lawsuits, 10 probation violation hearings, five sobriety court referrals, one alcohol traffic safety school referral, one shoplifting referral, five sheriff’s work van, five referrals for alcohol counseling, a demonstration hearing, and five wedding ceremonies.

Funds given to Dickinson County Treasurer Lorna Carey totaled $63,144.75. The court trust was $21,770.49
