BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) – The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office reported that a seventh suspect has been identified and arrested in an aggravated kidnapping.
A news release from the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a call on Avenida Katarina in Brownsville on July 3.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with a witness who said the victim had been abducted against her will. The witness added that the victim was assaulted as she was thrown inside a vehicle.
After a day in captivity, the victim was returned badly beaten and made contact with sheriff’s investigators, the news release said.
Initially, investigators identified six suspects involved in the kidnapping and aggravated assault. They were able to get arrest warrants for everyone.
The investigation then revealed a seventh suspect. She has been identified as Francis Samantha Gudino and investigators have obtained two warrants for her arrest, the sheriff’s office said.
On August 16, investigators located Gudino and placed her under arrest. She was charged with aggravated kidnapping, a felony in the first degree and participation in organized criminal activity, also a felony in the first degree.
Gudino was transported and incarcerated at the Carrizales-Rucker detention center without further incident. The investigation is ongoing.
